In That Country and Along That Shore
This new work is my awakening. It is the result of shedding old mindsets, leaving old haunts and getting out of blackness.
For many years all my paintings started from black backgrounds. I worked hard to make beautiful things come up from blackness and I thought it was just my way of working. Now I realize that unconsciously it was my life, living in darkness, finding a way to stay in the light.
My work got stronger, until I found myself above the blackness, staring down into it, the abyss. I knew I was out of the darkness and would find my way to a new light…and I did.
My focus has changed from a close up viewpoint to a 360 view. I shed the old darkness and embrace the new light.
